Greenhill Landscaping is located in Hatherleigh, Devon. The business takes its name from its owner Andrew Greenhill. As one would expect with a surname like that it was the obvious name to use for a gardening business, and it helps new and potential customers to remember the business name.
Devon – A Beautiful Area Of The Country
Greenhill Landscaping has been based in Devon for almost 20 years and Andrew says he is blessed to work in one of the most beautiful areas in the country. The business moved from Kingsbridge, on the south Devon coast, and in the last 20 years it has gone from strength to strength.
Greenhill Landscaping is now well established in the Hatherleigh area with plenty of regular garden maintenance contracts and repeat clients on larger landscaping jobs.
Although Andrew believes in ‘learning on the job’ and has employed several apprentices in the past he tends now to employ students attending part-time courses in landscaping and design from Bicton College in Devon. He believes that the combination of gaining a recognised qualification along with good practical experience is a real asset. Andrew himself is ANCH qualified.
Using Devon’s Natural Stone
Greenhill Landscaping specialise in garden design and dry stone walling. Andrew particularly enjoys working with natural stone and has incorporated the material into many of his garden projects. He is more than happy to re-use a client’s existing stone as well as recommend good local suppliers.

Other Landscaping and Gardening Services
- Water features
Whilst at collage Andrew became a craftsman of nursery propagation and has recently developed this side of the business from home, the benefits of which have been enjoyed by many of his clients. Buxus Sempervirens or box hedge, as it is commonly known, is one of their specialities.
Box hedge is a slow growing plant which is great for low hedges and especially round pathways where it can look attractive with its dense, round, dark evergreen leaves.
It has a slow growth rate of only 10 – 15cm per year and as such is useful for topiary. After you’ve spent ages cutting the hedge into an intricate shape, the last thing you want is for it to grow out!
Growing The Landscaping Business In The South West
The majority of Andrews’s clients are based in Devon and Cornwall but he is happy to travel further afield. Andrew has recently set up a Facebook page, Andrew Greenhill Landscaping, so he can keep clients up to date with offers and news. He confesses that social media is not an area he is very good at but understands that it is a sign of the times.
