As well as providing these little edible gems, Truly Treats can help you promote your business by producing cakes embellished with your company logo. So called, Corporate Cupcake Cakes can be delivered nationwide. The industrious pair are busy creating an online shop that will enable you to order and design your own unique creation delivered direct to your home or office.
Food And Drink – Love The Devon Flavour
Truly Treats love the flavour of Devon and are proud to be part of Food & Drink Devon. It is also important to the couple to keep their food miles down to a minimum. They favour sourcing ingredients from local famers and like to supply as much as possible to local business. Food & Drink Devon – Love the Flavour is a membership of likeminded business celebrating the best produce from Devon.
Ellie and Adam are both Devonians. Ellie is from the beautiful town of Dartmouth and Adam grew up in Paignton. They love living in Devon and could never imagine not living close to the sea. They understand that the West Country is a stunning area in which to live and that they are spoilt with the selection of wonderful local produce on offer on their doorstep. Ellie believes that in Devon, there is some of the best produce in the country, if not the world!
Educated In Devon – Traveled The World!
Ellie went to Churston Grammer School where her father was an art teacher and thoroughly enjoyed her time there. Creativity obviously runs in the family! Adam attended Torquay Boys Grammar School where he excelled in science and mathematics. The amalgamation of their learned skills and experiences seems to have created a winning combination.
Ellie took a year out after school and took the opportunity to go travelling; she said it was the most amazing time of her life. Ellie travelled extensively through the USA, South America, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and China!!
She found them all life enriching locations. A few places, however, stood out, and for very different reasons. New Zealand was action packed and so very beautiful. With South America and China, it was the difference in culture that was most enlightening. And let’s not get Ellie talking about the local food! The different types of local foods was certainly one thing that made travelling memorable for Ellie and something that has influenced her back in her Devon kitchen.
This adventurous pair both love the fresh air life. They spend a lot of time camping and enjoying outdoor activities. As one may have expected Ellie and Adam are both foodies and love nothing more than entertaining friends and family with delicious meals. Their nearest and dearest also play a role as the all-important guinea pigs for testing new recipes for Truly Treats!
Where It All Began – In The West Country Of Course!
Ellie and Adam started out by only making cakes. They decided on Truly Treats as a name for their business because it allowed them to expand their product range. Ellie confesses to having more of a savoury pallet loving different types of bread and amazing West Country cheeses and charcuterie. Adam is the one with the sweet tooth! And who could blame him, working with these wonderfully yummy pieces of art!
The business was run for the first two years from the couple’s flat in Torquay. However, being up two flights of slippery stairs was making life a little difficult.
At the beginning of 2012 they moved premises to a small commercial unit in Teignmouth, Devon and took on their first member of staff. They want to grow the business at a steady pace and they have some great ideas as to where they can take their product range. They are currently working on a sweet treat box delivery service, perfect for those young suffering students or as little treats for friends and family. They also hope to launch this into the corporate world; ideal for working lunches and meetings.
When I asked Ellie about her ideal client, she replied; they need to have the sweetest of teeth!
Truly Treats offer a first class service. They know they have some great products and are very critical about what they do and always want to make sure that their customers receive a top-notch experience. They believe not only in great tasting products but also superb customer service. Their forte tends to be in the personal approach, especially say, when discussing with a bride to be the finer details of her wedding cupcake cake design.
Adam and Ellie pride themselves on keeping their customers in the loop about their orders; you only have to read the customer testimonials on their website to see that they do a great job. This formula coupled with spectacular baking makes them a winning team.
West Country Street Food
Truly Treats can be found at many local farmers markets and food events around the West Country. Ellie and Adam believe getting their product on the streets is the best form of advertising. It’s all in the taste! Or as they say you eat with your eyes!
